About Our Festival
Thanks to everyone who supported us these last two years!
With the help of the community, we’re planning to make this year’s arts & jazz festival even bigger and better!
Our invitation to the Toledo-area community is to “bring your lawn chairs, blankets and kids”. We encourage people of all ages to come out and enjoy live jazz performances and a celebration of the arts.
Our mission is for visitors to rediscover the beauty of Ottawa Parks’ historic amphitheater and the rich heritage of jazz in Toledo. Along with a wide variety great food, a children’s art activity area, local community organizations will have information booths to distribute vital information to festival attendees. A portion of this year’s festival and fundraiser proceeds will create a scholarship fund to buy music instruments and provide music/art lessons to Toledo-area children.
Stay tuned and check back for this year's jazz line-up and exhibiting artists.
Our Founder & Festival Organizer
The GLAJ Festival is organized by Hugh Ross, host of the H-Factor Jazz Show, now in its 5th year on The University of Toledo’s student radio station, 88.3fm.
Showcasing all types of jazz, old n’ new, from across the globe, the shows popular “Jazz Request Line” blossomed into a listener “H-Factor Jazz Enthusiasts Club” whose mission is to bring free and low-cost jazz entertainment to Toledo, year-round.
A Portion Of Our Festival & Fundraiser Proceeds Will...
Create A Scholarship Fund To Buy Musical Instruments
& Provide Music/Art Lessons To Toledo-Area Children
Who will the next Picasso or Miles Davis be? This year, we are very proud to announce the start of the Great Lakes Arts & Jazz Festival scholarship fund. A portion of the proceeds from our fundraisers and festival will buy music instruments and art/music lessons for Toledo-area children. This year’s scholarship recipients will be the “Littles” of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Ohio, who have expressed a passion for music and the arts.
